Brick masonry takeoff.
Estimate bricks and wet mortar from actual wall dimensions, openings, wall thickness, brick size, joint thickness, and a project-specific waste allowance.
Measure net masonry.
Use one wall type at a time. Combine door and window openings into a single area deduction.
Use the actual masonry module.
Gross wall area is length × height. Door and window openings are deducted before multiplying by wall thickness to obtain masonry volume.
The brick count divides masonry volume by the brick-and-joint module. Wet mortar is the remaining theoretical volume after subtracting the volume of the calculated bricks.
Real mortar demand varies with frogs, perforations, joint finish, bond, uneven units, and workmanship. Use the result for takeoff checking and reconcile it with the specified masonry system.
